The Task - Windows Plugin for Wireless AGV Communication

Create a Windows plugin to the core server that provides radio communication, inventory, and a GUI user-interface.  Corecon wanted to provide a visual way of following the AGV on the floor and to specify which stations the AGV can stop.

The SSI Wireless Solution Included a Visual GUI to Shows Graphical Overview of AGV Activity

The visual graphical user interface (GUI) SSI helped implement shows the path of the AGV on the warehouse floor and the current status of the AGV including what station the AGVs currently occupy, path information, time, error information, and current operation status.  AutoCAD files are exported to a text -based .dxf file that is easily read into the GUI for a graphical overview of the factory floor.

On the wireless side, the client used off the shelf radios with a serial port.

This particular solution helped Corecon’s printing customer streamline production by getting paper rolls from the warehouse to the press side more efficiently. The AGV picks up a pallet and puts it into inventory.  By pressing "run" in the application GUI, the AGV delivers printed materials to the mailing room.
